/We adore East Vancouver and its growing scene and want to extend some insights into our favourite development areas. We created a neighborhood guide that highlights all the best shops, restaurants, attractions, and daily essentials in each hub.
As summer approaches, we wanted to let you know about some of our favourite things going on this season. We suggest you sit back with a refreshing drink and take in what each area has to offer. Who knows, you may just live there one day.
Street Festivals
One of the best things about East Vancouver in the summer are the street festivals that take place. Held annually on the second Sunday of June, Italian Day on The Drive is a vibrant cultural street festival celebrating Italian culture, heritage and community. The event includes over 120 street participants, comprised of partners, vendors, community organizations. Held on Commercial Drive (The Drive), home to Little Italy, the street is transformed into a lively 14 block festa.
Over near Main Street and across major hubs in Vancouver, the Vancouver Mural Festival returns August 4-14, 2022. Dedicated to celebrating the creativity, vibrancy, and diversity of our city, the Mural Festival brings together over 60 beautiful murals with cultural, personal and historical stories crafted a wide range of talented local artists.
Summer Markets
Is it even summer if you’re not attending a farmer’s market or two? This community has a knack for bringing people together to eat local food and try new artisans. Some of our favourite markets include:
Trout Lake Farmer’s Market - takes place every Saturday, 9am-2pm and runs from April 23 until October 29, 2022 at the north parking lot of John Hendry Park
Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market - runs every Sunday, 10am-2pm from May 22 – October 30, 2022 at 8th Ave. & Guelph St.
Riley Park Farmer’s Market - runs every Saturday, 10am-2pm from April 23 – October 29, 2022 at the Riley Park Plaza, 30th Avenue & Ontario St.
Patio Season
Summer means patio season! Whether for happy hour or a weekend afternoon, we’ve got some of our favourite places to grab a pint or a bite to eat.
Main Street Brewing - Offering up a rotating selection of in-house brewed beers, Main Street Brewing has a street patio that’s perfect for catching some rays while sipping on your favourite sour.
El Camino’s - If you’re looking for world-class tacos, this is your spot. With a covered patio, El Camino’s is a great place to hit on cooler summer days.
The Union - Bringing you another epic street patio, The Union has both amazing cocktails and amazing bites, offering Pan-Asian eats, including bibimbop & banh mi.
